Social Skills Scholars: Grades 2-3
Does your child have difficulty making friends, expressing feelings, following directions, or managing behavior?
Do small deals suddenly become big deals?
Social skills play a key role in a child’s success both in and out of the classroom. In fact, research has shown that the development of effective social skills promotes positive relationships, greater problem-solving abilities, stronger self-management skills, better self-esteem, and higher scholastic achievement. To promote and enhance healthy social and emotional learning, Social Skills Scholars focuses on developing greater self and social awareness.
Every week a new topic will be introduced, discussed, and practiced using a dynamic variety of activities, projects, games, and stories. Programs will be tailored and modified to meet the needs of the students enrolled. Topics include (but are not limited to): how to be a good friend, recognizing and expressing feelings, managing anger, resisting impulses, matching the size of our reactions to the size of the problem, teamwork, conflict resolution, and initiating and sustaining conversations.
