Lisa’s expertise in Language Arts, Literature, and Creative Writing is the result of a diverse career in education that began in 1995. She has taught these subjects at the middle school, high school, and college level for over twenty years. At her current position as a Critical Reading and Writing Professor at Ramapo College, she makes individual and group tutoring sessions central to her courses, and genuinely enjoys working with students to assist them in their development as critical thinkers and proficient writers. Lisa firmly believes that thinking critically and writing proficiently are lifetime skills that are essential not only for success in the academic and business realms, but also in the “real world”.

In addition to her background in writing and literature, Lisa has also taught self-awareness courses on the behavioral and psychological components that frequently prevent students from achieving their potential personally as well as academically. It is her belief that the most effective instructors have had some experience struggling with a subject, and can therefore empathize with students who are experiencing academic difficulties; she says she “remembers every day what it is like to be on the ‘other side of the desk’”. Lisa has also been tutoring students in standardized test prep (SAT/ACT) Reading and Writing sections.

Lisa earned her MA in Literature Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University in 1998. In 1994, she earned her BA in Literature Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University, and was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Outside of her passion for reading and writing, Lisa is an avid Peanuts fan, and loves spending time with her husband of 19 years.
